Superstar Matt Blue
Tag Frangipani One Stroke
Global Amazon FunStroke
FacePaintingShop No2 Round Brush
Hot Wing 8005 Leaf Stencil
The base is not a necessary addition but it really brings out the colour of the mask and the contrast of the blue and orange really makes it pop. I start with Superstar Matt Blue across the hairline and blend with Superstar Sky Blue and Superstar White moving down the face and fade it out on the cheeks above the nose.
Using the DreamBlend Filbert I load up from the Tag Frangipani One Stroke using mostly the white and yellow and only a small amount of the orange. I sweep two outer edges to the pumpkin and the two inner segments. The one stroke gives instant 3D to the pumpkin shape but a flat orange can be used also. I then load up a small sponge from the Frangipani One Stroke and using a hot wing stencil I stencil on the autumnal leaves. Again these can be hand painted but for speed and symmetry a stencil does a fab job. Personally I prefer to put the darker colour to the outer edge furthest from the eyes in order to frame the eye area.
Then using the Global Amazon Cake and the Hotwing Stencil I sponge in some green leaves among the Orange, some twisty green vines with a No.2 FPS Brush, and a stalk on the pumpkin. The symmetry doesn’t have to be perfect.
Using Superstar Line Black and FPS No.2 brush I create my line work on the pumpkin, leaves and add some hand drawn bats and a spider spinning a web. The face can be left here as a finished design or highlighted as in the next step…
Highlights really finish a design, and glitter and lipstick also work well as a finishing touch.
I hope you enjoy having a go at this design, and please do comment with your feedback and pictures of your pumplin designs!
